Prayer Request
I just got the call that a Wayne Dye died today while spending the day at Talladega. Michael worked with him at Ryburn and they were pretty close. Little did I know that Wayne had asked Michael to go with him, but due to his work schedule he didn't get to. Just Friday Shelley and I were in the Toyota building at Ryburns joking around with him...Please keep all of Wayne's family and friends in your prayers.

Hubn in the Hubcap
This is a picture that Shelley took of Michael when we were getting ready to sell our motorcycle. She entered it in the Drew County Fair and we found out today that it won Best of Show! Shelley did a great job and we are super excited. Now, we are ready to make our appearance at the state fair (we now have a reason to go...lol).
Shelley and I have named it...Hubn in the Hubcap...Hope you enjoy!

Chaos and Maverick
For those of you who don't know, this is Maverick our male Doberman. He is a big boy for a doberman and although he is two years old, he is the biggest puppy that you've ever seen. He is very smart though and picks up on things quickly (except for the whole housebreaking thing, which is why he lives outside in the pen...lol). When Maverick was only a few months old he got Parvo and almost died. After many tears and lots of money though, he pulled through and has done great.
This is Chaos and she is our "baby" girl. I am actually quite sure that she thinks she is a person instead of a dog and as a result she is quite spoiled. She stays in the house the majority of the time and only goes outside on nice days to play with Maverick. So, anyway now for the point of this blog....WE ARE GOING TO HAVE PUPPIES! She is due in about two weeks, so stay tuned for pics of her and the puppies...

We're back...
For those of you that don't know, Aunt Karen and I left early Saturday morning going to see Kelly, Anthony and Nora Claire in South Louisiana. Now you may be asking yourself...didn't those two crazy ladys know that Hurricane Gustav was coming??? YES, we knew, but we also knew that even if it was coming Kelly and Nora Claire didn't need to stay there if it did. Can you imagine having a week old baby with a hurricane coming towards you? Poor Kelly and Anthony had to decide what HAD to go, and what could stay and be replaced if their house did get damaged. So, Aunt Karen and I enjoyed hanging out with Nora Claire while Momma and Daddy decided what was coming to Arkansas and what was staying.
This is Nora Claire ready for her first roadtrip to Arkansas with the crazy ladies...lol
This is what traffic looked like at times on the interstate. We really were lucky in that most of the way home the traffic wasn't bad and was flowing.
This is Nora Claire and Momma at her first trip to McDonalds (sorry Nora Claire, no happy meal yet...lol).
Me and Nora Claire.

So, Kelly and Nora Claire will be staying in Arkansas for a few days to wait out the storm while Anthony stayed behind with Nemo and June (their other babies) at home to make sure the house is okay and that there aren't any looters that get in there to take the things that were left behind. On the good side, I happen to know some pretty happy grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that are happy that Kelly and Nora Claire are here for a visit!

Anyone?
Does anyone have one of the small plastic swimming pools that you are done with for the summer? If so, please let me know....Thanks!

6 Years Ago Today...
Michael and I were getting married...
For those of you who don't know, Michael and I dated on and off for about 7 years before we had our "big day". We dated on and off all through Jr. High and High School and finally got "back together" for the last time in 2000.
After a long bout of dating each other (and a few other people that we won't mention...lol) it was FINALLY our big day. We were so excited...I remember thinking I was the luckiest girl in the world. I was marrying a man that I knew loved me 100% and a man who I couldn't imagine living without--a man that loved me unconditionally and always knows how to make me smile. This picture is of us at our reception immediately after the ceremony. We couldn't wait to see and talk to all of our family and friends, some who traveled a very long way to be with us on our special day. July 20, 2002 has by far been the happiest day of my life so far.
This is us today...We've both changed quite a bit in 6 years (he's got a little less hair and I've got a little more gray in mine...lol), but he is still the absolute love of my life and I am more thankful for him every day. Don't get me wrong, Michael and I have had our ups and downs just like every other married couple, but we are stronger as a couple now than we have ever been and I can't imagine my life without him.
Today has been a wonderful day of just spending time with each other. So, Michael, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and thank you for being my best friend! Here's to many more years together! I love you!

Update
I know it's been a while since I posted, and in case you were wondering....I am not so stressed out anymore. Our team was able to play and did well in the tournament and we were all very proud of the girls...
Not a whole lot else has been going on since softball season is over. However, I still don't know what it's like to just go home and relax. I should have known that I would find other things that need to be done...lol
My dad has gone back to Alaska to work, so Michael and I have been helping mom get some things done at her house (yard work, appts, taking care of the dogs, etc.). My brother, sister in law and Carson are supposed to be coming at the end of the week and we are excited to be able to spend some time with them.
Michael and I also have our 6th wedding anniversary on July 20...(something tells me Michael is reading this and saying, "I can't believe it's only been 6, seems like 60...lol)
No other real changes at the moment, but I really am going to try to start posting more....

STRESSED OUT!
I am officially 100% stressed out at this point. We just got our All Star uniforms in and the players shirts and the coaches shirts are TWO DIFFERENT COLORS! The rule for Babe Ruth clearly states that the coaches uniforms must be identical to each other and be in the same colors as the team uniforms. WHAT THE HECK ARE WE GOING TO DO?? The tournament starts TOMORROW, so there is no time to order different coaches shirts and have them here in time and we live in Monticello, so it's not like anyone is going to have some in stock...!!!

A little of everything
I know some of you have been wondering how last week went with my new schedule, so let me sum it up for you....I LOVE IT! I got so much more work done it's not even funny. It's amazing how much more you can get done when you have 2 hours a day when there are only a few other people in the office, who are also taking advantage of it being quiet, and no phone ringing off the hook! It is GREAT! I do have to admit though that when I went to lunch and shopping with Shelley and the girls that I felt like I was playing hookie....I'm not used to having Friday's to do whatever I want!
This week will be very hectic for me. For those of you who don't know, Ked and I (and Elaine) are coaching a 9-10 yr. old All Star team. We all took our tests yesterday so that we could "step out on the field" and passed with flying colors. I have to admit, some of the questions were a little confusing the way they were worded, but we made it through without any real problems.
We had a very busy weekend with softball, and I don't really feel like I've been home any at all. Friday night we had a regular league game (which we tied 6-6), Saturday, we had All Star practice from 9-11 and then we had two league games at 5:30 and 6:30. Yesterday, we had All Star practice from 2:00-3:00 and then off to take our tests... As you can tell, I haven't been home much this weekend, and this week will only be worse. We have practice tonight at 6:00 (keep in mind that I don't get off until 5:30 now), tomorrow we have practice at 6:00, Wednesday we have a coaches meeting in Lake Village at 7:00 for the tournament that we will be playing in at the end of the week, Thursday we play in Lake Village 2:00 and then have to attend opening ceremonies at 7:00...and the list goes on...lol
I know I will miss this when we are done for the season, but I will also be glad to be at home with Michael and Chaos a little bit more! Michael has been so supportive of me doing this (and has even made it to a few games...lol) and I appreciate it more that he knows. I really do enjoy coaching and getting to know the girls. Overall, this has been a great experience. Wish us luck in the tourney!

Schedule Change
Several months ago, our office was presented with a choice...those of us that wanted to could continue to work 5-8 hour days OR we could work 4-10 hour days. We were also told that this might and might not actually take place, but that they were curious of what we would all want to do. I chose to work the 4-10's and to have Friday's off....
Well.............this morning we were told that the changes will take place MONDAY!!! Yes, two days from NOW! So, this is officially the last Friday that I will have to work and I am SO excited. Even though I will have to be at work at 7 a.m., I think that it will be so worth it in the end. I will be able to have longer weekends, we can plan trips and I can go eat lunch at Red Lobster with Shelley...lol!
So, wish me luck with the new schedule (I will work Monday-Thursday 7-5:30) and pray that I get up on time Monday! LOL

Twice in the Same Day!
Who would have thought that I would post twice in the same day? WOO HOO!!!
This has been a strange week for me, and I'm still not sure why. It started out great...Michael and I had a good weekend together not really doing a whole lot. We cleaned our house that REALLY needed it since we have all of our water working again, grilled a lot and even went to a late movie Saturday night. We watched "The Strangers"....what a movie--DON'T go see it alone...BAD idea! We hadn't been there 30 minutes when a very large grown man went running out of the theatre...I never saw him come back.
Monday, I took the day off to spend with the hubby...again we didn't do a whole lot, but it was great to be able to spend the day together. I love days like that...
Last night, we were supposed to have a game at 5:30, but the field was too wet (even though we couldn't tell it by looking at it). It's probably for the best that it was "rained out" though because we still don't have all of our girls back yet. We have another game Friday night and two Saturday, so I hope that most of our girls will be back for those--we really want to hold on to our second place title. We are also having All Star teams this year (a first ever for the girls) and now the hard part comes in...Ked and I have to decide who to nominate off of our team. We have some idea, but are still trying to decide what to do.
Today, I've just been in a weird mood...not really a bad mood though, so I guess that's good. Ked and I went and ate lunch at Ameca which was good and we got to catch up on some conversations so that was good, too. It's amazing how little we get to talk when we are at ball games or practices...lol
Now, I'm trying to decide if I'm going to go to women's group for our church tonight...decisions, decisions...

For those of you keeping up...
We have a new septic tank installed! Actually, we've had it for a couple of days, but I haven't had time to get on here. The man came and put it in on Tuesday and Michael and my dad have done the plumbing under the house. The original plan was to have a plumber do that part, but it is so hard to get in touch with a plumber in this town that we finally gave up and said we would do it ourselves! I am so glad that I have a husband that can do things like that if that's the route that we have to take!
The team that Ked and I are coaching (the Orioles) lost on Tuesday...due to lack of players showing up. We really haven't had a problem with that until now....but vacation time has hit and it seems like it hit for everyone at the same time. It looks like we will have even more gone for Friday's game, so it's not looking good for us to hold on to our second place that we worked so hard for...oh well, guess we'll see. Maybe we're not the only team that has everybody out on vacation...lol
Work is still hectic, but getting better. I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel...lol
Other than that, not much is going on. Michael and I are looking forward to being able to really clean our house this weekend (since we can actually use our water again) and hanging out with some friends this weekend. I am also hoping to be able to make it to Jordan's game today since I haven't made it to as many as I would like so far...
Hope everyone has a good rest of the week!

A little of this and that...
I know I don't blog as much as I should, but it seems like we've been so busy lately that I haven't really had time...and when I do have time, I find something else that needs to be done more. lol
Work has been crazy--we are short staffed and it seems like there is way more to do than there is time to do it. I have come to the conclusion that all I can do is try my best to get it all done and if something doesn't get done...well, there's always tomorrow.
Ked and I decided to coach a 9 and 10 year old girls softball team this summer and it has actually been a lot of fun. We have some great girls on our team and we've only lost one game so far-I am so proud of them! It seems like that has kept us both way more busy than we would have thought--we have something every night but Wednesdays it seems.
Michael and I found out that we have to get a new septic tank put in...fun, fun. The man is supposed to be at the house to do that Friday or Monday, so pray for us--those things get expensive! lol
I will try to be more consistent on my blogging for a while, but I'm not making any promises...lol

Money Saving...
I have put myself on somewhat of a budget and to my surprise, I'm kind of enjoying it so far. Yesterday, Michael and I sat down and made a "menu" for the week...this included our "nightly" meals and nothing else. I made my grocery list by this menu and also got a few quick and easy things for breakfast and lunch.
I started off my grocery shopping at Sav-A-Lot and was impressed at how much of my stuff I could actually get there and how cheap it was. I got all of our meat there, which I think is the best in town, and also a lot of the other items that I needed. Then, it was off to Wal-Mart for the few things that I couldn't get at Sav-A-Lot and to Piggly Wiggly for some deli meat (I love their cajun turkey and can't find anything else comparable, so I'll spend a little extra on it).
Today, I am brown bagging it...lol...It amazes me how much people spend (me included) when they buy their lunch every day. So, starting today, I will be bringing left-overs or a sandwich on most days to eat for lunch. This food will be better for me and save us a ton in the long run.
So, no more "stupid" spending for us for a while. We will only eat out for "special" occasions during the week, no trips to Burger King for breakfast or out to "grab a quick bite" for lunch; no more "Oh, let's get this or that for the house", (the house is fine just like it is, and there's no reason to buy something just to buy it) ; and no more unnecessary trips to town to pick up one or two things...if we needed it that bad, we should have gotten it while we were in town. Gas is too high to make several trips a day to town.
Here's to saving money...lol

It's been brought to my attention...
That it's not snowing anymore....and I should really do a new post. So, here I go...
It seems like I have had a lot going on the last few weeks. Last week, my brother, Rob, my sister-in-law, Kim and nephew, Carson came for a visit. They live in Bentonville, and I really don't get to see them near as often as I would like. I thought I had this great plan worked out to only work part of the week, spend some time with them and some time with Michael and have a really good "vacation" from work....well, seems like nothing ever goes as planned.
The week started off great. Sunday I took Carson to the park after lunch and then it was on to help Shelley with Easter sittings (Carson included). I took off work Monday to spend the day with Carson doing something fun, even though I had no idea what that was going to be....he had a little bit of a cough, but we all figured it was his allergies acting up and it would be no big deal after we gave him his Benadryl. We (Me, Mom and Kim) took him out to the UAM pond to let him look around...he loves it out there for some reason...and then it was off to eat at Ameca. After lunch, we thought it would be fun to take him bowling (he just turned 5 and this is only his second time to go). Long story short, he loved it, did great and kept coughing....
By Tuesday, I was back at work, and Carson was still sick. After no sleep at all for him Tuesday night due to his cough, which was also accompanied by a fever at this point, he was off to the doctor bright and early Wednesday morning...Have you guessed what was wrong with him yet??? It was the flu! He got some medicine and the doctor said he should be fine in a couple of days, so knowing that I had had my flu shot I wasn't worried. Kim needed to go run a few errands, Rob was out at the farm helping my dad and I took over the reigns of taking care of Carson for a little while since my mom can't be around people with the flu since she has no immune system due to her MS...By Thursday, Carson was feeling better, and Rob and Kim decided they would try to make the 5 hour trip back home while he was feeling up to riding, even though he still had a cough and a fever. I had taken off at noon to hang out with them some before they left and to spend some time with Michael, so after they left it was off to the house to spend some quality time with the hubby.
We spent Thursday afternoon fishing in our pond with Shane...Michael was catching fish right and left and me and poor Shane couldn't catch a break! We finally gave up at dark with me catching 0 fish, yes that's right, none...Shane catching about 5, and Michael catching about 30...how fair are those numbers??? LOL After not having any fishing luck, and Hannah getting off work it was off to the River to eat dinner.
Friday, Michael and I spent the day hanging out at the house. We did more fishing in the pond and lots of laying around doing nothing...lol
By Saturday, I wasn't feeling very good, but Michael and I wanted to do some fishing at the river and at the lake, so off we went. Another useless fishing trip not catching anything, but it was nice to get out of the house for a little bit. Sunday was Easter and Michael's mom wanted to take us to Pine Bluff or Little Rock to eat lunch and hang out for a while, so off to Chili's we went. By this time, I'm feeling really cruddy, but think it's my allergies acting up....and I really wanted to go and enjoy some different food than the same stuff we get in Monticello all the time. Lunch was great, we did a little shopping and headed home. Now, I officially feel like crap. My throat is sore, I can't stop coughing and I have a fever. Sunday night was horrible with no sleep and feeling awful.
Monday morning, I was off to the doctor after going in to work to do a few things since I had already missed Thursday afternoon and Friday...have you guessed what was wrong with me? Yep, you guessed it....the FLU! I got some medicine and went home....and woke up the next day. My cough medicine I got had codeine in it, and after one dose of it...I was out for the count!
I pretty much remained that way all day Tuesday and Tuesday night....Wednesday I rejoined the "Life of the Living" and actually felt well enough to hang out on the couch and watch T.V. I also stayed awake all day, which was something all new for me! LOL
Today, I'm back at work and gettting back in to my routine...I already can't wait for the weekend so that maybe I can actually get some things done! Sad, isn't it? LOL
What's bugging you today?
Is it just me or does it drive anyone else crazy when people who say they want to keep their private life private feel like they have to announce everything in their life like a little kid?! Don't say that you don't want others in your "business" yet announce every aspect of your life to whoever will listen! Why do people feel compelled to hurt others to make themselves feel better? And better yet, why as a society do we accept this?
Do you know people that feel and act this way (NO NAMES)? Is there really any way to change this??...I don't think so. When will these people realize that everyone, including them, is better off if they just keep their mouths shut? How do they not realize that they are not only hurting the person that they are "trying" to hurt, but everyone else around them as well?? I am not talking about anyone specific...I just thought about this this morning and it has bothered me since.

How Do You Save Money?
Ok, Shelley and I have been talking a lot lately about different ways to save money. What do you do? Do you buy food or clothes from the "store brand" instead of name brand? Do you cook the majority of meals at home to keep from spending money on fast food? Do you buy food and other things (toilet tissue, paper towels, etc.) in bulk to save? Tell me what you do...give me your ideas. I am ready to REALLY start saving some money and welcome any suggestions...
YIPPEE!!!
IT'S SNOWING....IN MONTICELLO!!! LOL
TOO BAD NONE OF IT WILL STICK AND IT WILL BE 70 DEGREES IN A FEW DAYS AGAIN!

I'm back...
Ok, watch out! I'm back and better than ever! Ok, not really but it was worth a shot...LOL
I hope that everyone had a great weekend...mine sure was. It was one of those weekends that I was both lazy and productive and we all know you can't beat that! Friday night Michael and I went to the Village in Star City to eat at the BBQ place and man, was it good! I absolutely LOVE their "toothpicks" appetizer (f0r those of you who haven't been, they are strips of onions and jalapeno peppers that are battered and deep fried, much like a french fry and served with Ranch dressing). After we ate, we did the usual window shopping that we like to do there...
Saturday was my lazy day for the most part...I got to sleep in for the first morning in FOREVER thanks to a certain someone not calling to wake me up at the crack of dawn...(you know who you are...LOL) but I did miss my Saturday breakfast....that's about the only morning that I ever eat a "real" breakfast...oh, well there's always next week! Anyway, after I finally got up I enjoyed some time watching tv and hanging out on the couch with Michael and the dogs. Well after noon, I finally decided I should stop being quite so lazy and I did a little cleaning while Michael gave Chaos and Maverick their baths. Then, it was off to town for a little girl time....you know the usual Wal-Mart, Stage trip...LOL
Yesterday, was our day to REALLY clean our house. We had Michael's mom coming over for dinner and I hate for everything to not be in its place when she comes over--even though I know that she could care less...We had a wonderful dinner, that my hubby helped cook by the way, and now we also have a clean house. What could be better? LOL
Overall, we had a great weekend and I really hope that everyone else did to....oh, and sorry to bore you with all my rumbling, at least I finally posted something! LOL

Be Thankful...
I got this today in an email and thought it was worth sharing...
Very interesting perspective by Jay Leno...I hope you will all read to the end. Jay Leno puts it into perspective and makes us think about the pathetic negativity. That's right, Jay Leno!!
Jay Leno wrote this; it's the Jay Leno we don't often see....
"The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true, given the source, right? The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed, and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President. In essence, 2/3's of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, ''What are we so unhappy about?'' Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?Is ou r unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time, and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?Maybe it is the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state?Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough.Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all, and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortun ate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family and your belongings.Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90 percent of teenagers own cell phones and computers. How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world? Maybe that is what has 67 percent of you folks unhappy.Fact is we a re the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S., yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.I know, I know. What about the President who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The President who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same President who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11?
The President that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The Commander-In Chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me? Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad?Think about it...are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the "Media" told you he was failin g to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day.Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go.They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an ''other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable'' discharge after a few days in the brig.So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans? Say what you want, but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds, it leads; and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by "justifying" them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allo w a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about "how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way"...Insane!Stop buying the negativism you are fed everyday by the media. Shut off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad.We are among the most blessed people on Earth, and should thank God several times a day or at least be thankful and appreciative."With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, "Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"Jay Leno2007

Help
Ok, so I know it's been a week since I posted--sorry. A friend of mine, who will remain nameless, (lol) says that they can't believe I haven't posted anything else and that I should be blogging more often....I am just having a hard time finding anything to blog about that I think anyone other than me would be interested in reading. Does anyone have any ideas that would help me with that? How do you decide what you are going to blog about and what you should really just keep to yourself? What makes something "blog worthy" to you?

It's Moving Day...kinda...
Ok, for those of you who don't know I got a promotion at work a couple of months ago but....there was a catch. I couldn't move in to my new office until they hired a replacement for me which was just done LAST week. I know, it sounds crazy, but that's what you get when you work for the state...everything takes forever. In the meantime, I have also had double my usual responsibilities and am trying to learn all kinds of new stuff which I have figured out is impossible while also having to answer the phone. Anyway, the new person starts on Monday so it's time for me to clean my desk out and start moving in to my new office. Although Friday will be my "official" moving day I started dusting and cleaning stuff up today trying to get it ready for the big move...lol. I still have a lot to do and could really use some decorating help! It looks so bare! Wish me luck!
